are severe and long-term consequences of sexual abuse by Catholic
clergy. These results are so common either in combination or en toto
that they are predictable in some form or other or to one degree or
another in victims of clergy abuse. These elements have been
identified from extensive research and observations of men and women
survivors who were abused as children. I validate my observations as
a result of the experience of counseling over 1,500 adults who have
been abused as children, 500 of them by Catholic clergy or religious
